async live was an intimate two-day performance of the album async at the Park Avenue Armory. Suspended above Sakamoto in the middle of the room was a downward-facing projection screen whose visuals changed with each piece of music by Shiro Takatani's videos. Alongside the piano, guitar, a table containing an oscillator, and a Prophet-5 synthesizer, Sakamoto played Bertoia's sound sculpture and a large pane of glass with a bow and an assortment of mallets.
The performance was filmed and subsequently released worldwide as Ryuichi Sakamoto: async at The Park Avenue Armory.
