sakamotocommon

sakamotocommon was launched to share the tangible and intangible assets of Ryuichi Sakamoto. The initiative strives to serve as a common ground where future creators can connect and continue to build on the work that Sakamoto sent into motion.

During his lifetime, Sakamoto often said that the creative process was what intrigued him, even more than finished product itself. In this spirit, we believe that Sakamoto’s story is not something meant to be merely locked away under museum glass, but rather, part of a living process that continues to grow and offer fertile ground for cultivation long after his death.

Join sakamotocommon in exploring the next chapter in this evolving process, open to all.

Sensing Streams 2024 - Invisible Inaudible (GINZA Version)
Ryuichi Sakamoto + Daito Manabe
This collaborative work by Sakamoto and Manabe senses and visualizes ‘electromagnetic waves,’ which are normally imperceptible to humans. While ‘electromagnetic waves’ are an essential part of modern infrastructure, they often go unnoticed in daily life.
The work will now be presented in the underground space of Ginza Sony Park. It will sense the electromagnetic waves traversing Ginza and display them in a new form using Sony's high-definition LED display, Crystal LED.
