| Sakamoto Draws Inspiration from Kurosawa for PS2's "Seven Samurai 20XX" | ||
| Akira Kurosawa's "The Seven Samurai" is about to take on new life as a video game exclusively for PlayStation 2 this fall. With the blessing of Kurosawa's family, Sammy Corp. of Japan has announced the release of "Seven Samurai 20XX," based on the film. A game with a family tree like this needs killer animation and an epic score. Sammy Corp. turned to artist/designer Jean ''Moebius'' Giraud (Alien, The Abyss, The Fifth Element) for the design of the game's 100-plus characters, and Ryuichi Sakamoto for the Seven Samurai 20XX themes. ''We're trying to create a video game that is beautiful and lyric,'' Giraud says. | ||
| A Day in New York Out Now! | ||
| Morelenbaum2/Sakamoto's A Day in New
York is officially on sale now, and the rave reviews are already rolling
in: Chicago Sun-Times: It's theoretically impossible to improve on perfection but Morelenbaum 2/Sakamoto does just that, with its second release, "A Day in New York." It's all as heavenly as a summer breeze and just as seductive. Read the Full Review Billboard Even deprived of the Rio air, the music brims with lilting, lyrical charm on such international standards as "Desafinado" and "Insensatez." Artists the world over have made these songs ubiquitous, but in the hands of M2/S, they sound freshly minted. A bonus is a Portuguese version of Sakamoto's beautiful Jobim homage, "Tango." | Morelenbaum2/Sakamoto return with "A Day in New York" | ||
| After touring the world in support their
release of Casa, Morelenbaum2/Sakamoto, joined by guitarist Luiz Brasil and
percussionist Marcelo Costa, discovered that they had reached a new level of
collaboration in Jobim’s music. The Casa tour was scheduled to end with a
performance at the renovated Winter Garden at New York’s World Financial Center
on November 6, 2002, but no one wanted the dream to end so soon. The next day
the group got together one last time before going their separate ways to record
their live set, capturing the experience of the tour and new insights into the
music. They’re all thrilled to have the opportunity to share the result of what
transpired on November 7, 2002 with you….A Day in New York.
