from 8pm Sponsored by Giorgio Armani in conjunction with N2k/Classical Insites Program: 8:00 PM Ryuichi Sakamoto and DJ Spooky 8:30 PM Sakamoto, DJ Spooky joined by orchestra (featuring the Electra String Quartet) and avant-jazz guitarist David Torn to perform "Untitled 01" - celebrating the music which comprises Sakamoto's new CD being released worldwide on SONY Classical February 10 an remix EP from Ninja Tune. As part of the ongoing exhibit "Mechanical Marvels: Invention in the Age of Leonardo", this special performance commemorates the continuation of the Age Of Invention into the 21st century, as the latest in Internet technology enables an audience around the world to participate in a live Sakamoto performance. Live via the Internet, "Discord Live" will allow the Internet audience to applaud by keying the "f" key on their computers. Also, those with MIDI-compatible computers and keyboards will be able to hook directly into Sakamoto's piano MIDI signal, allowing him to "play" their computer or instruments as he plays live at the Winter Garden in New York. TICKET INFORMATION: For those wishing to attend the performance-- a limited number of tickets will be available free of charge at the Winter Garden on the day of the performance only from 4-7pm. Admission to the performance will be closed promptly at 8 PM, and there will be no admission after that point. |
