Peace One Day Screens Across Europe | ||
The documentary film PEACE ONE DAY charts the remarkable five-year journey of filmmaker Jeremy Gilley as he meets heads of state, Nobel Peace Laureates, aid agencies, freedom fighters, media moguls, the innocent victims of war and, eventually, everyone who was anyone at the UN. The film documented and inspired the establishment of the United Nations International Day of Peace as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence, now 21st September annually. Musicians including: Ryuichi Sakamoto, Lenny Kravitz, Santana, L. Subramaniam, 1 Giant Leap, Bob Marley, Dave Stewart & Jimmy Cliff, and Coldplay have all generously donated the music that appears in the film. Peace One Day will screen at the The Ritzy Cinema, London Brixton Oval, Coldharbour Lane, Brixton SW2 1JG at 8:00 PM on Friday 12 November 2004, and feature an introduction and Q&A with director Jeremy Gilley. At the same time, the screening will mark the launch of CinemaNet Europe with a simultaneous digital satellite screening of the film on 200 cinema screens across nine European countries. Amy Hardie, award winning filmmaker, chairperson of Docspace and co-founder of CinemaNet Europe, explains, "We're pioneering a novel approach to getting documentary films to their audiences by using new digital satellite technology. A digital satellite server transmits the film direct to a digital projector in the cinema booth and on to the screen, the quality of the image on screen is incredibly clear, giving a high contrast, beautiful image. Unlike celluloid there are no scratches, noisy jumps, cuts or annoying hairs in the gate, it's the closest to perfect viewing we've ever got. This is the beginning of digital technology replacing film in cinemas." CinemaNet Europe, overnight will become the world¡Çs largest independent film distribution network. To reserve a ticket for the screening and q&a email info@docspace.org.uk by November 9th. |
